from the President: I hope
everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, safe and healthy New Year I
would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelly, Marilyn, Janet and Bernie
for all their hard work on our wonderful Christmas party. Your efforts were greatly appreciated. The favors, door prizes and centerpieces were wonderful.
I do hope that everyone who attended the Christmas party had a good time
and enjoyed the food, favors and door prizes.
Out of
curiosity, has anyone knit any of the patterns that were included with your
favor? By the way, I am only
finally working on my own dishcloth know as I prepare my words for this
newsletter. I have knit several of
them but have given them all away. I
am working on another Christmas design for this year. It was
good to see you again, Meredith. Hope
it fits into your schedule so that you will be able to join us for more
meetings. Along that same line I
would like to welcome Stephanie back. Sorry
to hear about your mishap but glad that you are better now. Our
charity project recipients for this year will be the church and Blessing House.
There is an ongoing need at the church for the items that we knit.
If you would like to bring an item(s) for the church’s pantry they are
collecting canned vegetables this month. If
anyone is interested, the church, also, needs stuffed animals/bears dressed.
The animals have a message attached and are shared with their ill and
shut-in members. Our
programs for the beginning of next year are: January
–Charity Knitting with the Experts; if you have a question or problem as it
relates to your knitting, ask it and we will try to answer it for you and give
you some other suggestions; at this meeting, also, we would like to have another
silent auction to raise money for the guild. So bring in anything knitting
related that you are willing to part with. February
– Joint meeting with the Grindstone Knitting Guild. Location has not been worked out yet. If we can get the big room, it will be here.
Otherwise, it will be where they have their meetings which are a week
earlier than ours. They meet at the
Mahler Museum in Berea. More details later. As noted
above, at this month’s meeting we will be having a silent auction to raise
money for the guild. If you have
craft related items you no longer want, bring them to the meeting and we will
put them up for auction. Newsletter: Please email Meredith
Dreshar with any information that you would like included in the
newsletter. The deadline to get news into the next Guild
newsletter is Febuary 11, 2011. If you have changed your e-mail
please let Meredith know. The
newsletter is posted every month on the Guild’s web site, along with past
issues of the newsletter. Lee
Ann Shollenberger is our WEB Master.

Guess What!! We have a Ravelry
group set up for quick comments, questions, whatever. Look for
"Crooked River Knitting Guild" here.
To sign up for Ravelry, simply go to the site and request an invitation.
Once you receive your email, simply follow the link.
For those that don’t know what Ravelry is, it’s a community for knitters, crocheters, designers,
spinners, and dyers, to find out about different yarns, patterns, tools, etc.
And best of all IT’S FREE! EVENTS: For those
of you might be interested, there should be information appearing soon on the
Knitter’s Connection (KC) website – www.knittersconnection.com.
The Knitter’s Connection will be June 15 – 19 at the Columbus
Convention Center. For those of you
who have not gone, it is a very nice gathering. The
classes are very good with many known instructors.
The market maybe small but you can still do some damage there.
They are trying to have some unique and different things.
Items you may not be able to get at your LYS.
The other nice feature about KC is that it is close.
If you are a member, you will receive notification via e-mail and will be
able to register for classes early. Plus,
you get a wonderful goodie bag when you check in.
The membership is only $10 and is well worth it when you see what you get
in the goodie bag. Knitter’s
Fantasy should be coming up as well. Sorry
but I do not have any particulars on that yet. |
