Beaded Christmas Ornament

Supplies: Worsted weight yarn (not a lot)
Size 5 needles (or whatever gets you gauge…CHECK YOUR GAUGE!)
2 ½” diameter Styrofoam ball
One tube size 6.0 glass beads
Beading needle
Tapestry needle
Embellishments (ribbon, hat pins, etc.)

Gauge: 5 stitches per inch, 6 rows per inch in stockinette on size 5 needles. Did I mention you need to CHECK YOUR GAUGE???

Homework:

If you want a beaded ornament, string 96 beads on your yarn, otherwise, don’t.

Cast on 16 stitches with long-tail cast on. Leave a 20” tail.

For a plain ornament, start with a purl row and do 48 rows of stockinette.

For a beaded ornament:
Row 1 (and all odd-numbered rows): Purl.
Row 2: *K3, slip bead, P1,* repeat from * to * to end.
Row 4: K1, slip bead, P1, *K3, slip bead, P1,* repeat from * to , end K2.

Repeat above pattern for 48 stockinette rows (you will have used up all 96 beads).
