Knit-bits from the President:

I would like to thank Jean for our wonderful program last month.  I am sorry I was not prepared.  However, it was a very informative program.  This month’s program will be on Kool Aid Dying.  It will only be a DEMO.  We will NOT actually be doing any dying.  The program will be presented by Vicki Birchenough of the Grindstone Knitters Guild.

June will be our joint meeting with the Grindstone Knitting Guild.  The meeting will be at the Mahler Museum in Berea.  Their meeting starts at 7PM.  There is a brief program scheduled along with the meeting.  The address for the museum is 118 E. Bridge St in Berea.  It is at the corner of E. Bridge St. & Coe.

I read the church’s newsletter for April and could not find in there where it told what they wanted specifically for next month.  There was mention of the tuna fish but that was for last month.  As mentioned previously, paper products are always needed.  Whether it be paper towels, napkins, toilet paper or tissues.  These items are always needed and will not go bad.

Please continue to pray for Suzanne King.  She is home and has begun her radiation treatments.  Also, please remember Patti Gell in your prayers as well.  While on a very special trip abroad (in part to Austria & Vienna) she broke her hip.  As of this writing she is still abroad waiting to come back to a hospital stateside.  There is all kinds of little things and big things to be worked out before she can make the trip back.  One suggestion for anyone, especially older people, when traveling abroad make sure you get medical insurance for the trip.  Travel insurance for the trip is not a bad idea either.

Start your spring cleaning now.  At our picnic in July, we will have a silent auction to raise money for the guild.  So go through your stash of yarn, books and patterns and see if there is anything you are willing to part with.  If there is, bring it for the auction.  What you are not going to use maybe just what someone else is looking for.

For those of you might be interested, there should be information appearing soon on the Knitter’s Connection (KC) website – www.knittersconnection.com.  The Knitter’s Connection will be June 15 – 19 at the Columbus Convention Center.  For those of you who have not gone, it is a very nice gathering.  The classes are very good with many known instructors.  The market maybe small but you can still do some damage there.  They are trying to have some unique and different things.  Items you may not be able to get at your LYS.  The other nice feature about KC is that it is close.  If you are a member, you will receive notification via e-mail and will be able to register for classes early.  There is no membership this year, and only students will receive goodie bags.
