There is plenty of parking in the back. We are in Rooms 6 and 7.
Please use the back (Office) door, not the side one!! Next
Meeting: October 26, 2010 Program:
– Knitter’s
Hand, Arm and Elbow Injuries with guest instructor Chris Jordan UPCOMING
GUILD PROGRAMS November
– Christmas Party We
originally planned to have one meeting set aside for charity knitting. Since we
have programs scheduled for the balance of the year, I believe that during the
September and October if you want to knit while the program is going on I would
like to suggest that it be for charity. We
will have yarn and patterns available. The items made will be collected and given to the Mitten Tree
that the church has at Christmas time. MEMBERSHIP: Welcome to new member Tammy Kuntz At meetings, please remember to sign in and take a raffle
ticket for the monthly drawing. There
is a separate sign in sheet for visitors. Please
make sure any guests sign in as well. Marilyn

Nehrenz (216) 941-8714, kathyiscrafty@sbcglobal.net Our Guild is chapter #187 of The Knitting Guild
Association. Members are
encouraged, but not required, to join. The dues for TKGA are $30.00
a year, $54.00 for two years, and include a years’ subscription to Cast-On
Magazine, and mailings about National and Regional meetings; and they offer a master
knitter program for hand and machine knitters. If you are interested contact the TKGA at www.TKGA.com
or call 1-740-452-4541. Knit-bits
from the President: Welcome to
our newest member, Tammy Kuntz who we have seen on a few other occasions.
She is, also, the music director here at the church and the pastor’s
wife. I hope
that all who attended last month’s meeting enjoyed Jean Nicholl’s
presentation. Thank you, Jean, for
a very informative and wonderful program. You
may have sparked someone in the group to try either Intarsia or Fair Isle.
If anyone is interested Knitting Daily just had a feature on Intarsia.
Check it out if you are interested. This month’s program will be given by Dr.
Chris Jordan (a member of Northcoast Knitting Guild) and will be on hand and arm
injuries as they relate to the knitter and what the knitter can do to prevent
injury and pain. As
mentioned in last month’s newsletter, depending on the length of the program,
there may or may not be time for show and tell. If there is time, please keep your presentation brief.
Until such time as we can get a committee in place to plan a retreat/knit
in, there will not be one. Thanks to
all of you who brought in items for the church’s pantry and or the Womankind
basket. The church will be
collecting paper products (napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and
school supply items during October. The
church will, also, have their Mitten Tree in place during October. They are requesting new hats, mittens, gloves and scarves.
As mentioned at our meetings, if you do not have time to knit an item,
you may bring in store bought items. You
may, also, consider bringing in packages of underwear.
Those items are needed, as well. As many of
us from the Guild have just finished participating in the Yarn Discovery Tour,
please remember to patronize the LYS. While
the online discount places are nice, they cannot replace the ability to touch,
feel and actually see the yarn. Another plus for the LYS is the service they provide.
Where else can you go and get the help you may need on a project?
Or the answer to a question you have. Now onto
our upcoming Christmas party. The
date for this has changed. We will
be meeting on November 30 which is NOT our normal meeting night.
It will be a potluck
with the Guild supplying the meat (chicken).
You are requested to bring either a side dish, salad, vegetable or
dessert to share. PROPOSED BY-LAW
CHANGES As
mentioned at last month’s meeting, a couple of sections in our by-laws need to
be revised. The changes are nothing
major but do need to be done. The first
item that needs changing is Article 5, #10 (2nd sentence).
It currently reads “The Service Chairperson will also coordinate
donations to the Renaissance mitten tree each year.”
The proposed change is “The Service Chairperson will also coordinate
donations to a suitable organization each year.” The second
item that needs changing is Article 7, #4 (2nd sentence).
It currently reads “In the case of a cancellation the President will
notify the Renaissance of the cancellation”.
The proposed change is “In the case of a cancellation the President
will notify the meeting place of the cancellation.” Newsletter: Please email Meredith
Dreshar with any information that you would like included in the
newsletter. The deadline to get news into the next Guild
newsletter is November 12, 2010. If you have changed your e-mail
please let Meredith know. The
newsletter is posted every month on the Guild’s web site, along with past
issues of the newsletter. Lee
Ann Shollenberger is our WEB Master.
