Nehrenz (216) 941-8714, kathyiscrafty@sbcglobal.net Our Guild is chapter #187 of The Knitting Guild
Association. Members are
encouraged, but not required, to join. The dues for TKGA are $30.00
a year, $54.00 for two years, and include a years’ subscription to Cast-On
Magazine, and mailings about National and Regional meetings; and they offer a master
knitter program for hand and machine knitters. If you are interested contact the TKGA at www.TKGA.com
or call 1-740-452-4541. Member Suzanne King has recently had surgery.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!! Knit-bits
from the President: Jean
Nicholls will be presenting our program this month on Horizontal Button Bands.
If you plan to participate, you will need to make a 4 x 4 stockinette
stitch swatch. There should be no
extra edge stitches. Whatever size
needle you knit the swatch on please bring with you to the meeting a needle two
sizes smaller. Also, bring a set of
DPN’s in the smaller size and 2 stitch markers. Next month
our program will be on Kool Aid Dying. It
will only be a DEMO.
We will NOT actually be
doing any dying. The program will
be presented by Vicki Birchenough of the Grindstone Knitters Guild. June will
be our joint meeting with the Grindstone Knitting Guild.
The meeting will be at the Mahler Museum in Berea.
Their meeting starts at 7PM. There
is a brief program scheduled along with the meeting.
As Janet
told us at last month’s meeting, the church is collecting tuna fish and
packaged meats for the food pantry. I
do not have the list yet for the next few months’ to know what they might be
collecting. When I get it, I will
let you know what the items are. I
am sure paper products are always good. Start your
spring cleaning now. At our picnic
in July, we will have a silent auction to raise money for the guild.
So go through your stash of yarn, books and patterns and see if there is
anything you are willing to part with. If
there is, bring it for the auction. What
you are not going to use maybe just what someone else is looking for. For those
of you who might be traveling and looking for a yarn shop, Fun With Fiber in
Farmington Hills, MI. It is a
suburb of Detroit. This store will
give guild members a 10% discount. You
just need to show them your card. Newsletter: Please email Meredith
Dreshar with any information that you would like included in the
newsletter. The deadline to get news into the next Guild
newsletter is April 15, 2011. If you have changed your e-mail
please let Meredith know. The
newsletter is posted every month on the Guild’s web site, along with past
issues of the newsletter. Lee
Ann Shollenberger is our WEB Master.

spinners, and dyers, to find out about different yarns, patterns, tools, etc.
And best of all IT’S FREE! EVENTS: For those
of you might be interested, there should be information appearing soon on the
Knitter’s Connection (KC) website – www.knittersconnection.com.
The Knitter’s Connection will be June 15 – 19 at the Columbus
Convention Center. For those of you
who have not gone, it is a very nice gathering.
The classes are very good with many known instructors.
The market maybe small but you can still do some damage there.
They are trying to have some unique and different things.
Items you may not be able to get at your LYS.
The other nice feature about KC is that it is close.
If you are a member, you will receive notification via e-mail and will be
able to register for classes early. There
is no membership this year, and only students will receive goodie bags. The Great
Lakes Fiber Show is May 28-29. They
have several classes and tons of venders. For
