YARN:  Approx 800 - 1000 yards worsted weight  yarn if  used double (We used Encore)
GAUGE:  Approx 2.50 sts/inch
I used size 13  24 inch circular needles

Cast on 60 stitches and join into round.

Round 1. Knit
Round 2 Purl
Round 3 knit
Round 4 purl
Round 5 Knit
Round 6 * purl 5, MI. Repeat from * to end of round
Round 7 Knit Around row wrapping yarn around needle 3 times on each stitch
Round 8 knit around unwrapping each stitch
Round 9 purl
Round 10 Knit
Round 11 purl
Round 12 knit
Round 13 purl
Round 14 knit
Round 15 purl
Round 16 knit

Repeat round 6 to 16 until desired length.  

I crocheted around neck with a double stand of yarn and a size G hook using Crab Stitch
I added a double strand of fringe around the lower edge.
